Morning Procedures

Time

The building opens for car riders at 7:15 AM. At this time, your child may enter the school and wait in the cafeteria until 7:30 AM. Do not drop your child off unattended prior to 7:30 AM! Please wait until the front doors are unlocked before leaving campus. After 7:30 AM, your child may go to his/her classroom. Adult supervision is provided in the morning car rider line from 7:30 AM - 7:55 AM. The busiest time in our car rider line is from 7:45-7:55 AM. If you arrive during this time, you may have to wait in a very long line and your child will be marked tardy if he/she is not in class by 8:00 AM. All car riders should enter through the front doors of the school. Please do not pull up in the bus parking side of the school to drop your children off as this creates a safety hazard. Students should always walk on the sidewalk as they exit cars. If you are planning to enter the building (to walk your child or children in), please remain in the single car rider line and park in the available spaces as they present themselves. Do not attempt to pass other cars. Keep the car line moving as quickly but as safely as possible. Say long goodbyes before you leave the house and use quick ones for the car rider line.

There is no tardy bell, but your child is tardy if he/she is not seated IN HIS/HER classroom at 8:00 AM according to the office clock. If your child arrives when he or she could not get to the classroom by 8:00 AM, please accompany him/her to the front office to check-in for safety. You do not have to sign the child in, but your child will receive a Tardy Slip in the office to present to the teacher.

Bus students should enter through the cafeteria side entrance. Bus students who arrive early will wait in the cafeteria until 7:30 AM. At that time, they will be released to classrooms.

Afternoon Procedures:

Time

Dismissal begins at 2:30 PM. Typically, the buses leave the campus by 2:40 PM. For safety reasons, please do not begin lining up in the car line before 2 PM. Students are often crossing the street to play on the field before this time.

Car riders may be picked up at the front entrance of the school at 2:30 PM. Please remain in a single line for afternoon pickup. It is extremely helpful to have your student's name displayed on the green cardstock. This helps us move the line as swiftly as possible. Please do not park in another area and walk to the car rider line as this provides an unsafe situation. Car riders may be picked up in the car rider line until 2:45 PM. Students that have not been picked up by 2:45 PM will be sent to the front office to wait for five more minutes. Parents must come inside at that time to pick up their child and show a valid picture ID. Students who have not been picked up from the front office by 2:50 PM will be sent to the after school program in the cafeteria for a charge of $15.00. This charge must be paid at the time your child is picked up.

Bus Conduct:

Appropriate conduct on the bus is essential for the safety of the driver and passengers. Behavior that distracts the driver or creates any disturbance on the bus will result in immediate disciplinary action.

Transportation Changes:

At the beginning of the school year, we establish your child’s method of transportation from school. If there is a change in the way your child will leave school for any period of time (one day, one week, etc.), WE MUST HAVE A SIGNED NOTE FROM HOME. Unless we have a note from the parent/guardian, a child will not be allowed to leave school except as previously established. This procedure will help insure that your child is transported from school safely.

Changes to regular or directed modes of transportation must be made by 1:30 PM the day of the change via a written note with signature, fax with signature, (770-463-5937) or a hand-delivered note with signature. You may write ongoing notes for repetitive schedules, for example, chorus every Tuesday, ASP every Wednesday, bus rider every other day, etc. We do keep those on file until you supersede it with a newer note.

Thank you for your cooperation.
